How Acupuncture Actually Works

The most frequent question I am asked by my clients is "so... how does acupuncture therapy actually work? "

My own response goes something like this:

Basically, acupuncture works in many different ways. On a physiological level acupuncture works on revitalizing the bodies natural proof response. For instance, In the event that you have a splinter in your finger, your body experiences a series of natural immune response's whereby it sends curing (white blood cells) to this area, increases blood flow, and brings nutrients to surrounding tissue and muscles. All this happens with away you even knowing. Acupuncture therapy works in exactly the same way except the chinese acupuncture winnipeg is directing where healing will take place.

Acupuncture also initiates a release of hormones called endorphins. Endorphins have positive effects on the body as well as the mind. When hormones are released, as they are during an acupuncture therapy session, it can stimulate a sense of profound relaxation and well-being, it helps to lessen blood pressure, helps to boost the disease fighting capability and acts as a strong painkiller. This kind of is the bodies natural painkiller that will conquer in when there is trauma or injury. Acupuncture treatment is a gentle manner in which to stimulate the anatomy's innate healing capabilities.

In the event you look closely at a chart that presents the Nervous System and Circulatory System we can see that their paths are incredibly closely related to the Meridian System. In seeing this relation, prudent that by stimulating a specific area, it can have a ripple result through the body via this unique network of nerve fibres and vessels.

So much we have been taking a look at very physical effects and ways to make clear how Acupuncture treatment actually works, so now lets look at the more subtle explanations.

In Chinese medicine the meridians are like rivers that flow all through the body, rather than water the meridians carry Qi which loosely translated means energy. So just like a river whose water moves from side of the country to the other, the Qi or energy flows through the body feeding and nourishing the areas it passes through.

The acupuncture points are pools of energy where the electromagnetic force is more robust then in other areas they are like reservoirs and can be stimulated to help more energy flow or reduced if there is too much. As the Chi level drops in one area so they must do along its meridian and so has the capability to effect more then just that part. In the event there is a clog of energy along a meridian it can cause energy to get caught up in that area, creating blood to stagnate and pain to arise. Positioning acupuncture needles along the meridians can help disengage this stagnation restoring the body back to health.

Acupuncture has been around for over 5000 years, and is currently being employed by Acupuncturist's, Physiotherapist's, Physician's, Chiropractor's and in Hostipal wards around the globe. It is still going strong, in fact there are more and even more ways in which acupuncture is being effectively used then ever before. Though there has recently been research into the operation of acupuncture and research proves that acupuncture actually does work, there are still a lot of things that can't be rationally explained by research as to how exactly it could work in so many different ways.
